We are starting to see glimmers of our little girl getting over this illness! She made it 4 1/2 hours today between nebs! It has been 10 days since that happened.
She had more bouts of playing today too. We dressed her babies and she was a little momma to them. She altered between resting and playing but the amount of playing was up from where it has been. I am finally starting to see the light at the end of this pneumonia.
She is going to stay home with Brent tomorrow. She is still not at the point where she can make it through daycare because I am worried about:
1. Her trying to use all of her energy to play with her friends and then exhausting herself and ending up sicker
2. Her lungs are still working harder then they should to breath, while it is better then it was, they were not good. You should not need nebs every 4 hours for 10 days.
3. I am nervous with her lungs currently working hard that she would pick up every germ around the place and her body could not fight it off. She frequently picks up germs when she is Jillian "healthy."
Our goal is that she is back at school on Monday. It has been a juggle her missing 9 days of daycare but I am very grateful for our employers flexibility!
Last night was also the best night of sleep she has had since this started. We did a neb at 2am but other then that she was not up. The night before she was only up a few times. This is a great change because the previous night she had been up most of the night!
We have been living on the Disney Sing Along Songs videos this week. She loves the ones that take place at the parks. We have watched them over and over and over. To the point I dont really hear them anymore lol! I am glad she likes them. Normally we dont let her watch a lot of TV but it is one of the perks of being sick and it was kinda all she could do. The problem is now she thinks the TV should be all hers which is a struggle we have not really had before.
The one plus of this illness is that she has pooped almost EVERY day since last Friday. It has been such a LONG time since that happened. The dr and pharmacist were both worried about how hard the meds she is on can be on the digestive system. They said that it can cause really bad diarrhea. While we have not seen that she has pooped which is amazing!
Jillian did the sweetest thing this week. She had been sitting for a while and had been exhausted. "When You Wish Upon A Star" came on her DVD. I was sitting on the couch and she came and grabbed my had and said "up." I got up and followed her. She led me to the rug, grabbed both my hands and danced with me for a couple of minutes. Then she went back to resting. It was the sweetest thing. It just melted my heart.
I laughed today. She was playing with her Doc writing pad. It has a clip that goes over the magna doodle that is a tracer for letters. She traced the E. It says "E is for eating. You should eat healthy vegetables to help you grow big and strong." I was in the other room making dinner and I stopped and laughed. Trying to eat a vegetable is what ended her up with pneumonia right now. I know for most kids it is good to talk about eating healthy food but it is just funny when a toy tells Jillian to eat food. I just have to laugh at these things.
Right now I'm going to enjoy the snuggles im getting from a very special little girl.
PS: stayed tuned... THIS Sunday starts Feeding Tube Awareness week!
