Pediatric nurse practitioner: she said her lungs sounded a lot better then they did on Friday. It was a quick appointment. She said she still heard a little bit in her upper lungs but that hopefully that is gone soon.
Pulmonology: they did Jillian's vitals. They were not able to get a blood pressure. That is not uncommon with Jillian. They then took us back to a room. Shortly after sitting down the doctor came in. She said her nurses were busy and she just wanted to talk to us. We talked about family history and Jillian's history. She said she was more concerned with the constant croup and wheeze then the pniemonia. She said that with the amount of vomiting she does pniemonia is inevitable because her airway is compromised in the vomiting. She said she wants to do a bronchoscopy. The bronchoscopy will happen in the OR under anesthesia. She said she wants this to be done within the next week and a half and that her office will be calling us to let us know when it is.
She wants to see if there is any signs of damage from everything. She said that she might be aspirating more then we think. If she is then we will have to talk about doing the fundo soon. That thought is overwhelming.
After we talked she listened to her lungs. She said they sounded good for the most part but the top of her one lung did not sound happy. She said that her voice box also sounded irritated.
She then talked to me for a little bit. I really liked this doctor. She had a plan which means a lot to me. She was also good at communicating and talking to me. I felt very included and listened to. She said that after the test we will come up with more of a plan. She said she did not want to come up with a plan before the test because she did not want to mask anything that might be going on with meds. Also on the day of the test we are going to take her to get a lung X-ray so we have a current one of those when she does not have pniemonia.
Today was a little overwhelming. I was not planning on her going into the OR anytime soon. I felt a little blindsided but I think it is best. There is a plan to try to help Jillian we have to do something. Almost one year olds should not have this much lung stuff going on. We will see what the test says. We are praying for answers and calm hearts.
