Jilli LOVES to see people on TV that look like her. It makes her so excited. There is just something about seeing other people like you. When she first started to ask about people in wheelchairs on TV I struggled to find a list so I figured I would put one together for other families like us!
Sesame Street- Tarah is Jillian's favorite character and she has several episodes. There is even one about her doing ballet in a wheelchair. There is also an episode about ramps and why they are important.
Little Bill- There is an episode with a character who starts going to the same school as Little Bill and Litle Bill learns that just because his friend is in a wheelchair, that doesn't mean that he needs to have everything done for him.
Puzzle Place- this show is harder to find but if you dig around on youtube you can find it
Elena of Avalor- The Christmas episode (and the corresponding book) has a character in a wheelchair, Jilli would love if they came out with merchandise for this character however we have not found any.
Doug- Chad Mayonnaise is not a frequent character on the show but he is in a wheelchair
Julie's Greenroom- This has to be our favorite Netflix show! One of the main characters uses a wheelchair and they have an episode that talks about wheelchair ballet! This is a great show and very well done!
Jillian also uses leg braces and she loves to watch Daniel Tiger because Krissy wears leg braces (there are also books to go with that episode) and old episodes of Mr. Rodgers because there is also episodes about leg braces.
Am I missing any shows? What other main stream shows have characters with disables?
