This week Jilli started 4K at home. So far she is loving it! Honestly I am too. If you are new to this blog you probably don't know that I use to be a 4K teacher and have an education degree in regular and special ed birth to third grade. Teaching is my sweet spot! (I started teaching the 3yr old Sunday School class at church when I was 12) Yesterday I started going through my boxes of teaching things that have been mostly packed away since Jilli was 2 (when she was put on oxygen during the day in April of 2015 I finished out the school year as best I could and then resigned) It was a little bit like Christmas because I forgot many of the things that I have. Our goal is to do at least an hour a day of structured learning. We also stopped at a local teaching store yesterday to pick up a couple of things. The sales person asked Jilli if we were buying stuff for mommy's classroom and she said "no, mommy doesn't teach anymore, she just stays home." Thanks kid! I am looking forward to this school year and watching her grow. She is already coming into 4K knowing a lot. She knows 14 upper case, 6 lower case, can identify 9 out of 11 numbers, can count to 20, knows 9 out of 11 colors. Shapes is something we really need to focus on this year. The plan is to have fun and spend time together.
This week we also started new eating here. Brent has been having some health stuff and his doctor has told him to try going yeast and sugar free for at least 2 weeks to see how he feels and if it helps. Growing up my mom was on this diet so I know how it goes. A lot of meat and vegetables. But it means a lot of from scratch cooking which is a lot healthier but takes more time but if it helps Brent that is what we will do.
We spent the day up at CHW yesterday with Nate. He had a biopsy again as his body is rejecting his liver again. The girls love Nate time and he loves them. We had a nurse on a power trip who could not let my kids on the floor for almost an hour but once we got that sorted out the kids all had fun together. The medical mom community is a group and we support one another.
I called the wheelchair place this morning to see what was going on... apparently the holiday is throwing things off (ya know that Labor Day just sneaks up on people) and her chair still is not in. They said they are under staffed so they asked me to call them next week to remind them about her chair in case they forget... don't worry I most definitely will be calling them! I feel like banging my head into a wall would be quicker!
On the same topic of frustrating.. on Monday I got a mychart message that the girl's special needs appointment had been scheduled the same day as dental. I know they were trying to be helpful however it ended up being that we had appointments scheduled at 11:15, 12, 1 and 2. I looked at that and wondered when my eating , going to the bathroom, changing diapers or Lydia napping was going to happen. I called and asked if I could switch on of those two appointments to a different day that week and the person seamed offended that I didn't think the current plan was going to work. She said then fine she was just going to cancel our special needs appointment and I would have to wait until next years schedule is released. I am confused how this is my fault and how we can't make anything work until next year now!
Lydia has been continuing with her getting into everything stage. She did give us two good nights of sleep this week which is amazing however the last two nights has been back to herself. So far she is doing a great job during 4K time playing which I am really proud of her because I was very nervous about that but am happy that so far that is going well.
We are headed into a busy weekend. Its team race packet pick up and zoo class. We also have the special needs picnic. These are the weekends I wish we lived farther north! LAst weekend we worked on going through clothes. I still have more to do. Lydia is still mainly in 9mo clothes but fits in some small 12mo, Jilli sits right in between 3T and 4T depending on the cut (some 3T is still to big while some 4T are perfect... gotta love clothing) Jilli has been working on learning to dress herself.
Well time for me to do some lesson planning quick while Lydia takes a short nap!
