Today's focus is to Educate and Celebrate!
Make a plan to educate 5 friends, family members, or media sources about tube feeding. What obstacles have you or your child overcome? Celebrate the successes. Show your tubie love!
These girls have overcome so many obstacles and keep doing that all of the time. The things they do and the love they show to others makes my heart happy. They are AMAZING girls!
We have been blessed multiple times lately with being able to share our story. From being spotlighted on "This Little Miggy" to having two articles published with Complex Child Magazine. We also have been on the Ronald McDoanld House of Eastern Wisconsin's facebook page this week promoting feeding tube awareness week.
We share because we want to educate. We want to show the value our children bring to the world. When your kids have differences I feel like that is something I have to fight for a little harder. Our kids are great and their tubes don't take away from their greatness, it help them have the ability to show the world how awesome they are! We like to think since passing IDEA and ADA that disability awareness is taken care of in the US but the reality is that it is not. We still have babies being aborted because of disabilities, we have people being being discriminated against, insurance companies denying life sustaining things, people against people with pre-existing health conditions having healthcare, churches that tell families with special needs that they are not welcome and many places what resist making reasonable accommodations. I am thankful for how far we have come but we still have work to do so I will continue to educate, support and love. All too often we think of helping others as a check box one time thing but in reality it is a day in and day out thing that never ends.
We are still collecting things through Sunday for Ronald McDonald House. Thank you to everyone who has helped so far. Also check out the Never Say Never playland website. The sponsorship information and picket info is on there.
