Slowing down a little

Everyone that has looked at me the past two days has told me how tired I look. I normally don't admit to the lack of sleep I get, or at least try not to make a big deal about it because it is life, after 2 years of getting up at 2am every night you get use to it and complaining about it will not change it but this week has been out of the ordinary.

Saturday morning we slept in a little bit. We got up and hung out around the house. We worked on puttery things. Jilli woke up wheezing pretty badly but with a neb that got better. She also had some goo in her eyes but I did not think much of it. By 3pm I was cleaning her eye off for the 4th time and at that point I knew it was pink eye. I knew she had to have eye drops for 24hr before she could go to school so she needed to get checked out then so we could get the drops started. We got in the car and headed to our local walk in clinic and apparently they now close at 1pm on Saturdays (it use to be 5pm) So then we were left to find a place to take Jilli. Pink eye is annoying but very minor compared to other Jilli stuff. The other walk-in by us will not see Jilli so that left us with our only option, drive to the Children's walk in 40min away. We got there and they told us it might be up to an hour wait. The hard part was not having Jilli touch everything because I knew she was contagious.
We got called back into a room and the nurse asked why we were there. I told her pink eye. She asked if Jilli had any other upper respiratory stuff going on. I told her that Jilli had woken up wheezing but we had done a neb and I really was not worried about the wheeze because I figured it had to do with her tube change the day before. The nurse's eyes then got large. She said she did not know that Jilli was such a complex case. She then looked at her chart... her eyes got really big. At this point I just have to laugh when people see Jillian's chart for the first time and they dont know her "stuff" because they always look shocked. Jilli was good for vitals. The dr came in. She diagnosed the pink eye from across the room, it was that obvious by that point. She then did her normal look in the nose and ears, listen to her heart and lungs. Low and behold Jilli not only had pink eye in both eyes but also a double ear infection. By interacting with her you would have never know because she was as happy as could be. The nurse was so sweet to us as she gave up discharge instructions and kept telling us that we do a great job with Jilli. We went and picked up meds (that is just an odd story... apparently I look friendly to talk to at Walgreens after spending my evening in a walk-in clinic...) and then went home.
Sunday morning we did not go to church. Jilli slept in and we wanted to give the meds a little time to work before we were around people, especially other children. We went to my grandma's house around 2:30 that afternoon to spend time with my aunt who was in from Organ. We ate Nipolian (an amazing dessert!) and hung out for a little bit. Then we went over to my grandparents house for my grandmother's birthday. We were also celebrating my cousin Reed and Uncle Paul's birthdays. We all hung out together and my aunts made tacos for dinner. We then came home and went to bed.
Monday morning I had jury duty for the first time ever. I dropped Jillian off at daycare (which is so odd for me because normally I am in the building so I don't drop her and leave) and went to the court house. Out of the about 40 people that had jury duty for the week I was one of the 13 selected to be on the jury. Monday I was at the court house until around 5pm. I came home and met Brent and Jilli since Brent had picked her up from daycare. We went into Lake Geneva for dinner and then went grocery shopping since that was our plan for Saturday night but pick eye won. By the time we got done grocery shopping it was past my bed time.
They told us Monday that it would be a two day trial so Tuesday morning I brought Jilli to daycare and went back to the courthouse. It was a long day. By the time the jury deliberated and I left the court house it was well past my bed time again. Tuesday was a long day and the worst part of the day was when someone said it was 8pm and I knew Jilli was being tucked into bed and I was not home. It was not that I disagree with doing your civic duty but I missed hugging my little girl when she went to bed. I am very fortunate that I am able to help put Jilli to bed 99% of the time. When I got home and walked into the bedroom she woke up and then was upset for a while so I ended up rocking her back to sleep.
Wednesday morning I got up and went to work early. Wednesday afternoon was rough because she started back on Cypro Tuesday night so it is really hard for her to calm her body to sleep so it took me rocking/cuddling with her for 2 hours for her to fall asleep. After she had an hour nap we needed to leave for Kenosha. I give sensory presentation for KUSD every few months and I had one scheduled that night so Jilli and I drove into town, mom and I had dinner and then went over and gave a presentation. By the time we left it was close to 8pm. On the drive home she did not fall asleep and was wired once we got in the house. It took her til after 10pm to get her body calm enough to sleep.
Today has been calmer. I taught this morning and then Jilli and I ran a couple of errands. I made two Tubie Friends and Jilli attempted to nap, however she never was able to fall asleep this afternoon. She did end up falling asleep in Brent's arms around 7pm. She desperately needed a bath tonight though so we let her sleep for a little bit and then had to wake her to bathe her. She is on an antibiotic for her ear infection that turns her poop funny colors and it stains her skin even with brief exposure so she needed a good cleaning. She did end up falling asleep around 8:40pm tonight.
We are still dealing with her one eye gooping when she wakes up or cries. She is also still saying that her one ear hurts sometimes but it is not seaming to bother her too much thankfully.
I think it is my turn now to go to sleep. Brent asked me tonight what I want to do this weekend... my answer.... nothing! Normally I am not this tired by a Thursday night... apparently jury duty takes a lot out of you.

Sleeping on daddy tonight. Brent really was not crabby... this was his goofy face :)
