GIRL!
Yesterday we had our ultrasound in Milwaukee. They had been predicting a blizzard here but it ended up mainly being rain. When I went to leave the house nothing was coming out of the sky. I figured we were good. Hwy 12 was very well salted and I drove past multiple salt trucks on 12. Then I hit 43...
43 was a MESS! There was next to no salt and the shoulders and the area between the lanes were building up ice fast. If you stayed in the tire lines you were fine, however I came upon a car that was going way too slow for conditions, there is being safe, and then there is being stupidly slow on an interstate. No I was not wanting anyone to be going 80, even the speed limit of 70 was not safe yesterday but this car was barely moving and I had big trucks that I could see barreling up behind me, so I tried to change lanes, and hit ice. I then went sliding into the shoulder which was also ice covered and was fish tailing and heading right at the guardrail for a bridge. Thankfully, my parents believe that if their child is going to drive in Wisconsin they are going to teach them how to drive on crappy icy roads without freaking out and learn how to handle a car that is fishtailing. I will fully admit there were some choice words flying from my mouth as I kept us from crashing, but I am very thankful that I missed the guardrail as was able to keep heading to Milwaukee. It was a long drive to Milwaukee and I witnessed a few people that were not as fortunate as I and ended up getting into accidents.
Thankfully Brent works fairly close to the ultrasound place because I ended up being late and he was able to go in and let them know that I was coming but the roads were really bad. Thankfully they were very nice about it.
We then headed back for the ultrasound. The tech was very nice and very good at explaining what we were looking at. It was a really calm environment. She told us we are having a girl and all Brent and I could do was smile (we both really wanted a girl). Brent looked over at Jillian and told her the baby is a girl and she just looked at him like "yeah, I know." She has been telling us every day for months that the baby is a girl and we need to name it Monkey Play-dough.
The doctor came in and kinda asked why we were there (I don't fit into the "typical" demographic for a higher risk ultrasound) I pointed to Jillian in the corner an explained that she has an unknown, most likely genetic disorder. He asked a bit about Jillian. He then told us that he was not seeing anything on the ultrasound that was concerning to him. This is what we were expecting. I had a lot of ultrasounds with Jillian because I was having contractions so often and they never noticed anything abnormal on any of her ultrasounds, but we just want to make smart choices and having a more through ultrasound was not going to hurt anyone.
Our plan was then to go to Babie R Us in Brookfield and to go out for a nice dinner, however it was still raining and after that drive there, I wanted to be driving home in the daylight, so we went to Target which is just down the road from the hospital. Jillian has been wanting to buy the baby jammies for weeks so she was excited to pick out pink jammies with animals on them.
We then headed home but decided to take 36 instead of 43 which was a really good choice because 36 was completely clear with no ice.

Congratulations on the baby girl on the way!!! And I think Monkey Play-Dough is a lovely name (LOL).
