Jillian got her MMR shot on October 15th. Her reaction started affecting her lungs October 17. October 19th we rushed her to the ER because she was struggling to breath. That started round the clock nebs. October 29th she only need a neb when she woke up and one when she went to bed. October 30th was neb free!!!! We are still dealing with the affects it took on her GI and urinary track but we were SO happy her lungs had finally turned the corner after a really long 3 weeks. It was like a weight was lifted and it was so nice to sleep without waking up to coughing.
Last night we went for family photos at JC Penny because I had a groupon for photo cards for an insane price. It included the sitting fee, 42 two sided Christmas cards, and 40% off everything else for $20. I could not print photo cards from walmart for that price and that was all I was really interested in. This year I am really feeling the need to get holiday stuff started now (I already have a big jump on my Christmas shopping). I joke that normally I feel this way when my world is about to be shaken up so I might as well heed the warning and get a jump on things and then if all is well then I get more time to relax with family in December.
So we got dressed up in nice clothes on Halloween and did our Christmas cards. We were done with our photos and at the computer looking at our photos and designing the cards with the sales associate. The next appointment came in and they were doing family photos with their dog. It has been a while since Jillian has been near a dog because she always started wheezing when she was near a dog so on the advice of her doctors (and logic) we kept her away from dogs. This means we don't go over to a lot of people's houses because of pets. Keeping her as healthy as possible is our number one goal.
Jillian was about 20 feet away from this dog and did not see it or touch it. She started to cough. Within seconds the cough turned to vomiting ounces of mucus. Brent had to run her out of the photo studio. I finished up and met them. In the car she vomited a lot again. I asked her if she was ok and she replied back with the sweetest yet saddest little "k." She just deals with it all. She does not like to vomit but she was not crying or upset, she just tried to make the best of it. She will even try to get the vomit on a towel as much as possible and we have found her trying to clean up her own vomit before.
We got to my parents and I carried her car seat and all into the house. It was nasty. We got her a neb. She vomited large amounts of mucus twice more before bed.
I woke up this morning to a smell... A putrid smell. Then I remembered about the multiple times last night that I caught vomit. I think we were up between 3-4 times with her vomiting more mucus. We did a neb again during the night. She is working hard again.
We will see what today brings. We are hoping for a fun weekend. My brother is in town, Mikaley's parents fly in today and Mikaley moves back to Colorado on Sunday. I am hoping to spend today with family and not at a doctors office but we will see as the day goes on. Each vomit exponentially increases her risk of aspiration pneumonia.
So if anyone was wondering... Jillian is staying far away from dogs! Her body goes into mucus production overdrive and then her body can't handle it all.
On the immunology front, I got a message back Wednesday. So far her bloodwork shows she needs at least two more vaccines and that with her bloodwork so far they have not found anything that would explain Jillian's symptoms. As of right now I can not even fathom the thought of any more vaccines. These past few weeks have hit her so hard. I don't think I can do this to her again anytime soon and I don't think it is fair to ask her body to. I have hit the point with vaccines that I guess I don't care what the bloodwork says, obviously her body can't handle them. I would LOVE for an explanation to the why however this has proved to us again what happens. So they are suppose to call me this week to discuss test results and a plan. I guess we will see...
